International Student and Scholar Services provides assistance to international students and scholars once they have arrived at Portland State University. The International Student Advisors, or Designated School Officials, advise students on maintaining their F-1 or J-1 visa status, obtaining employment or travel authorization, changing to another educational level, transferring to another institution and many other immigration related or personal issues. The international student advisors are available to international students on a daily basis for walk-in advising and requests.

The ISSS office provides New International Student Orientation at the beginning of each term as well as coordinating events such as International Night in conjunction with the Organization of International Students and coordinating international student scholarships. We work hard to ensure that international students have a positive experience at PSU and are able to take advantage of all benefits allowed to them in their visa categories. ISSS provides a bridge between the PSU international student population and the departments, faculty and community of Portland State and the greater Portland area
