The two-week intensive K-12 teacher training program aims to meet the increasing demand for Chinese language teachers in Oregon after passing the legislative bills that require Mandarin Chinese be offered in public schools in Oregon, to improve the quality of Chinese language teaching, to prepare K-12 Chinese language teachers pursuing teacher license with Chinese endorsement, and to provide and create a testing ground for the in-service and pre-service Chinese language teachers to apply their pedagogical knowledge and skills to meaningful teaching experiences in real world classrooms in the U.S.
