AHA Segovia Summer - Language & Culture
Explore one of Spains most beautiful and historically interesting cities, Segovia. Visit the Roman Aqueduct; the Alcazar, a fortified palace; and the Cathedral, the last major Gothic edifice constructed in Spain. Just one hour north of Madrid, Segovia strikes a unique balance between past and present. Experience first-hand the noble facades of the old city enlivened by shops, stores, restaurants, cafes, discotheques, and sports facilities. Study in the Segovia Center, situated between the Plaza Mayor and the Roman Aqueduct in the heart of the city. Immerse yourself in historic Spain.
This 6-week program is designed for intermediate and advanced Spanish language students. All courses are taught in Spanish making this program ideal for Spanish majors and minors as well as students interested in taking courses in art history, European Studies, History, Literature, Spanish Culture, Film Studies, and more. Students will improve their Spanish language skills in this impressively historical and picturesque city, while still being only 25 minutes by high-speed train from Spain’s capital, Madrid. In addition, students live in a home-stay which further supports their immersion into Spanish society and culture. Students will attend courses at the AHA Center with other American students from all over the U.S., yet also have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in local culture and explore friendships with Segovians. Students can participate in tandem language learning activities with local university students or do an internship at a local business or organization. Excursions to neighboring sites of importance and other group activities are included in the program fee.
