CIEE Barcelona Liberal Arts
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, a region in northeastern Spain with its own distinctive history, culture, and language. The metropolitan area of Barcelona has a population of 2.8 million and is set between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. Walking though the city, one can observe 2,000 years of architectural history, ranging from the impressive network of narrow streets in the Roman and medieval quarters and the 19th century Eixample district with its original examples of modernista architecture, to the ultramodern showpieces that continue to redesign the skyline of the city.
The Universitat Pompeu Fabra was created in 1990. It offers degrees in law, economics, business, social sciences, communications, humanities, and technology. Features include its highly dedicated teaching staff, small class size, focus on technology, and an international outlook. The University is located throughout Barcelona, with buildings near the Ramblas, the Olympic Village, and the port.
This program is designed for students with 4 semesters of Spanish. Students who wish to learn about Spain and Europe through living in the unique and beautiful city of Barcelona will find that this program provides an ideal opportunity.
