CIEE Paris Summer Contemporary French Studies
Paris, the capital of France, is a major world metropolis and center for culture, art, fashion, gastronomy, and intellectual life. The Seine river traverses the city; its waterways, quays, and bridges are major thoroughfares but also ways to see the city’s most famous monuments, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre Dame. The city is known for its cafes (one for every 200 inhabitants); its parks; its street life and markets; and as a magnet for immigration from around the world.
This program is designed for students at all levels of French who wish to deepen their understanding of the language and culture of France. Students may take intensive French language courses at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, or focused, stimulating content courses—taught in French and English—related to French literature, philosophy, disability studies, Francophone studies, art history, and history.
