Picture of IFSA Merida

Merida, also known as “the white city”, is the capital of the State of Yucatan, located in the southeast of Mexico. Its combination of the great pre-Hispanic Mayan civilization with Spanish colonial traces will transport you to time and places difficult to imagine without you experiencing life there. During your time in this diverse country, you can immerse yourself in a proud cultural heritage dating back almost 20,000 years. Many terms from its famous Aztec and Mayan civilizations can be heard in the Spanish spoken in Mexico today, and foods used by those ancient civilizations (corn, beans and peppers) have become the key ingredients of staple meals and high cuisine alike.
