About Institute for Asian Studies
The Institute for Asian Studies (IAS) at Portland State University is a rich resource for understanding some of the world’s most ancient cultures and the future’s most dynamic economies. The Institute for Asian Studies at PSU prepares Asian Studies students to master the language fluency and cultural literacy necessary for success in international careers in business, education, public service, tourism, law and the arts. The Asian Studies faculty and scholars serve on boards of and participate in local, regional and national Asia- related organizations. IAS faculty publish international journals and foster student achievement through teaching courses about Asia. IAS serves as a conduit connecting students and faculty with people in our community through partnerships with various community organizations and sponsors community programs. IAS offers public lectures to community groups and hosts international conferences on Asia related topics.
