Many of you may be leaving home for the first time to study in the U.S. Others may have been away from home before but never for such an extended period of time. Having to live in an unfamiliar culture and to conduct daily business in a new language can sometimes make simple tasks feel like monumental events. International Student Orientation is designed to assist you through the adjustment process.

All new international students, including those transferring from another U.S. institution, must attend this mandatory orientation and immigration session. During International Student Orientation you will learn more about F-1 and J-1 Visa Responsibilities, Cultural Adjustment, PSU Services, Transportation, Housing, Student Life, Things to do in Portland, and have a chance to meet other international students who can help you answer your initial questions. At the end of International Student Orientation you may choose to sign up for our International Student Mentor Program.

Feel free to preview your orientation sessions by checking out these documents related to your F-1 Immigration Regulations and F-1 Employment Authorization
