American Nursing Experience for Nurses from Japan

This 4, 7, 10, or 14-month program combines full-time English language training with a weekly American nursing seminar. It features translated lectures and visits to clinics and hospitals. Upon completion of the language portion of the program, participants begin a 1 to 2 month individualized shadowing experience that exposes them to various American nursing roles and settings in their specific area of interest. Participants live with homestay families or in a university dormitory.

American Nursing and English Language Training for Nursing Students from Japan

This 2 or 3-week program (offered 2-3 times yearly) includes basic English conversation classes complemented by daily lectures and site visits. It focuses on a general introduction to the modern American nursing and health care systems. Interpreters are provided for all lectures and visits. Lecture topics include: Health care in the USA today, oncology nursing, home health care, care of the elderly, nursing careers, and nursing education in the USA. Site visits include: hospital tours, nursing home, AIDS hospice, ICU, oncology unit, out-patent clinic, NICU. Participants live with host families or in a university dormitory.

Specialized Medical Programs for Nursing and Healthcare Professionals from Japan

A 1 or 2-week program designed for nurses, nursing students, and other healthcare professionals that provides a look at current specialized medical care in the US. Interpreters are provided for all lectures and visits. Participants live in a dormitory or an apartment-style hotel. Current programs include Oncology nursing, Respiratory Therapy nursing, and Dental Hygienists.

Japanese University Medical/Healthcare Program This is a program of 2, 3 or 4 week schedules that is offered to students studying to be health care professionals in Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing and Dentistry. Students attend English courses in the morning. In the afternoons they enjoy opportunities to visit clinical settings and listen to focused lectures related to their respective disciplines. Examples include : Hospital Tours, OHSU Medical Schools campus, Adult Foster Care Homes, Retail and Clinical Pharmacies, Oral Surgery Clinic, Medical Specialties Clinic, Ambulance Company, Radiation Therapy. In addition to the academic schedule, students are treated to numerous recreational excursions including a Major League Baseball game in Seattle, Wa and a day of white water rafting in Central Oregon. Housing is provided in a combination of campus dorms and homestays.
