Jovan Babic is Professor of Philosophy at Belgrade University, Serbia and Montenegro. A MacArthur Foundation grant brought him to the US in 2000 to collaborate on a writing project on the ethical dimensions of transitional justice, and he spent three years at PSU as a visiting scholar and professor. Professor Babic has returned annually to teach philosophy courses in the PSU Summer Session.

Venerable Geshe Kalsang Damdul, Tibet

Venerable Geshe Kalsang Damdul received his Geshe Degree (Doctorate in Buddhist Philosophy) from Drepung Loseling Monastery in South India in 1995. In 1985 he was appointed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as Assistant Director of the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, a position he still holds today. Geshe Kalsang Damdul has taught at American universities and Buddhist Centers and has directed study groups in Canada.

John Davies received his PhD in English from Nottingham University. He has taught American literature in the United Kingdom for over 20 years with an increasing specialization in the works of Northwest writers. This summer one of his courses focuses on three Oregon writers: Molly Gloss, Craig Lesley, and Robin Cody.

Natalya Gronskaya earned her PhD in Russian language at Nizhny Novgorod State Lobachevsky University. She currently serves as a Professor in the Department of International Affairs and Political Studies at Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University. She has taught at universities in the United States and Canada and has coordinated student exchange programs between her university and its partners in the US and Canada.

A professor in the Faculty of Art and Design at Yildiz Technical University in Turkey, Zerrin Iren Boynudelik spent part of the 2004-05 academic year as a Fulbright Scholar at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. During that time she guest lectured at Portland State on historical places and contemporary art works, one of her areas of interest and expertise. She earned her PhD at Istanbul Technical University.

Olga Nosova earned her PhD in Economics at Kharkov National University, where she now teaches and serves as Chair of the Department of Economic Theory. She has been a research scholar at several prestigious universities and institutes in Europe and the United States, including the Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars in Washington DC.

After teaching in the Department of Family and Consumer Science at Kenyatta University for seven years, Dorothy Rombo came to the United States in 2003 to pursue a doctorate in Family Science at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul. She holds a master's of education degree from Kenyatta University in Educational Communication and Technology.

Francine Tolron, Avignon, France

Francine Tolron is a professor at the University of Avignon in southern France, where she teaches courses in New Zealand and British Cultural Studies. Her PSU course on French advertising -- taught in French -- provides a rich ground for studying both language and culture in a vein that is at the same time serious and highly entertaining.

Professor Zhan received his MA from the Department of History at Zhejiang University, where he now teaches. He travels and lectures widely at American universities and at international conferences including the Friends World Program, Wharton International Forum, and the Symposium on International Education. This year marks his 10th anniversary as a visiting professor at PSU.

Cristina Ziliani, Parma, Italy

Cristina Ziliani is Professor of Direct, Database and Internet Marketing at the University of Parma, where she also earned a Full Honors Degree in Economics. She was a visiting doctoral student at Oxford and Stirling Universities in the United Kingdom before earning her PhD in Marketing from the University of Milan. Loyalty marketing is one of her areas of specialization.

Thomas Zimmerer, Regensburg, Germany

Thomas Zimmerer is a professor in Finance, Investments, and Banking at the University of Applied Sciences in Ansbach, Germany. He also serves as senior instructor for a company that provides seminars for finance professionals, teaching Excel-based solutions and case studies in bond portfolio management and insurance. He earned his PhD in economics at the University of Regensburg and has extensive experience in the business world.
